FAQs

What are Mati’s products made of?

The main ingredient is mycoprotein to which we add some more ingredients to make our fantastic products. But we keep the ingredient list short! No animal-based ingredients, no gluten, no soy.

What is mycoprotein?

Mycoprotein in Mati's products is a nutritious protein source made from a fungus called Fusarium venenatum. Mycoprotein starts growing when the fungus is fermented. This process is similar to fermenting yoghurt or sourdough bread.

Is mycoprotein safe to eat?

Mycoprotein from the fungus Fusarium venenatum is one of the most carefully tested food products on the European market. It was approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for sale in the United Kingdom in 1984, after over a decade of research. So yes, it is perfectly safe to consume! Unless you are sensitive to fungi.

What do Mati’s products taste like?

If you are afraid that our products taste like mushrooms because we use mycoprotein then don’t worry! Mati’s tender fillets without chicken taste exactly like chicken and some have said they taste even better!

Are Mati’s products healthy?

Yes! Making healthy products is our mission and that’s why Mati’s tender fillets without chicken are nutritious, minimally processed and have a short ingredient list.

Where can I buy Mati’s tender fillets without chicken?
